Clear Digest is comprised of a proprietary blend of digestive enzymes along with betaine HCL to support optimal digestion of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. This product contains the special protease DPP IV (dipeptidyl peptidase IV), which aids in the breakdown of casomorphin (from casein/dairy products) and gluteomorphin (from gluten). Clear Digest also includes the enzyme lactase, which helps break down the dairy sugar: lactose. The use of Clear Digest before, during or after meals may be helpful for the treatment and prevention of gas, bloating, burping, indigestion, constipation, or the feeling of fullness after eating. The health of the digestive tract is crucial for the overall health of the body. If food is not digested properly and toxins are not eliminated, it becomes very difficult to achieve optimal health.

Digestive enzymes can reduce gas, bloating, fullness after a meal, heartburn and indigestion.

More specifically, the ingredients in Clear Digest function to:

  Aid fat digestion:

  • Although fat digestion starts in the mouth with salivary lipase, most fats are digested by pancreatic lipase, which is secreted by the pancreas into the intestine. Pancreatic lipase cleaves these free fatty acids, which are efficiently absorbed in the upper small intestine.

  Aid the digestion of carbohydrates:

  • Some carbohydrate digestion takes place in the mouth by salivary amylase, but pancreatic amylase is the major carbohydrate-digesting enzyme.

  Aid protein digestion:

  • Protein digestion is initiated in the stomach by pepsin and hydrochloric acid, which denature and divide large proteins into smaller polypeptides. The pancreatic proteinases break down these compounds into amino acids which are directly absorbed by the intestine.

Assist in the prevention of food allergies (Leaky gut syndrome):

  • Bromelain acts to help prevent allergens from crossing the gastrointestinal tract, and assists in the breakdown of large protein complexes.
  • This reduces the chance that these complexes will leave the stomach partially digested in forms that could pass through gastric or intestinal “holes,” thereby inducing an allergenic response. This is also known as “leaky gut syndrome”.
